At Guru Nanak Girls College, Santpura, Yamuna Nagar

Delivering lecture on “Concept of communication in Guru Granth Sahib” at Guru Nanak Girls College Sant Pura, Yamuna Nagar. At the face of it we can say that Guru Granth Sahib is communication of man with God. The fact that Sikhs have “Shabad” (Word) as their living Guru underlines the importance of communication in life! The gospel titled “Sidh Gosht” is just one example of the importance Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikh religion gave to communication.

This cannot be religion!

A few days ago, after attending a grieving function at Gurdwara MT Ext. we were waiting for the torrential rain to stop. During this wait one of the friends, a leading member of an internationally operative NGO (which claims to be working for peace and universal brotherhood) inquired if we had seen the new video of IS jihadis beheading an American? Most people did not understand or ignored on purpose but he continued “I have this video here” and then he went on to show the video to three four people standing near him as if it was a prized trophy! It was so sickening to see this barbarism that I immediately moved aside while this learned friend kept on giving the live commentary “dekho pahilan kalma pdh rhe hn…and now…”!(Notice, first they are reading kalma…now….) There was not an iota of fear or regret on his face! As if he was celebrating the event!

I have been thinking since then where are we up to? Do we sympathize with the victim? Anybody doing so cannot keep such barbaric video with him…and if we have sympathy with the those barbaric jihadis we are as barbaric as they are! This is absolute abuse of the technology! Dear friends, for God’s sake or for the sake of humanity let us not glamorize barbarism! No killing is justified…least of all the barbaric killing of a harmless, unarmed , captured victim! Please don’t propagate such barbarism even if you have sympathies with the barbaric perpetrators!…This cannot be religion! Hell is surely waiting for the barbarians!
